Mitzvah Day 2017: Merry Mitzvah Everyone!

Mitzvah Day 2017 was a wonderful day of service for our community to make a difference in the Durham and Chapel Hill communities, with contributions including:

  • 31 trees planted with the Durham Office of Sustainability
  • 145 dog toys made for APS
  • 3600 diapers sorted and packaged for the NC Diaper Bank
  • 6 bags of trash, 1 toilet, 1 tire, and 1 fence post cleaned up from
  • 3 parking spots painted with the Accessible Icon
  • 1000 flashcards made for Durham Literacy Center
  • 650 meals served at Urban Ministries, Durham Rescue Mission, Threshold, and Ronald McDonald Houses at Durham, Chapel Hill, and Duke Family Room
  • 20 blankets made and 250 socks and 30 pairs of gloves wrapped for Urban Ministries
  • 2 assisted living and nursing homes visited
  • 200 gifts wrapped for Families Moving Forward
  • 29 projects at the JCC and around the community
  • 500 dedicated volunteers spending their day off making our community a better place!
