See the Full Camp Shelanu 2020 schedule below and find out why we were one of INDY Week’s Best Camps in the Triangle.  You can choose from Classic Camp Shelanu where campers will do a wide variety of activities every day, or you can take a deeper dive with our individually labeled Specialty Camps where campers will spend half of the day focused on a specific skill or activity and half of the day doing Classic Camp Shelanu activities. All camp options include daily free swim!

Junior Imagineering - Waitlist
Join Emily, the Kindergarten teacher from The Lerner School, to design, problem solve and create! Campers will explore and collaborate to cook and engineer, while creating summer memories. Memories will include how to make the biggest bubble, why balloons float, making an iSpy book.

Do you like to problem solve? Join Lerner School’s Genea, for one week to create design, engineer, and create out of everyday materials! Each day, your camper will bring home a unique creation. The campers will work together, using math and language arts skills, to create a lasting project!

Students will have a great time learning the basics of Acting and how to perform a scene and a Monologue (will be fun!) with great material tailored for kids. They will also learn collaboration skills and how to analyze text in a fun, supportive, relaxed atmosphere that will teach great performance skills.

Food Lab: Edible Science - Waitlist
Calling all kids for a week of delicious food experiments and cooking! For five fun-filled days, kids will experience a world of hands-on culinary exploration while learning the scientific concepts that change our food. Best of all, we’ll get into the fun scientific details of cooking: the importance of specific amounts of ingredients and cooking times, and more wild ideas such as how precipitation can make gummy candy, how a fungus reacts to sugar and warmth, and how cooking can change texture, taste.

Mitzvah Camp
This summer camp week will be fun-filled projects centered on human kindness- Mitzvahs or doing good deeds. Mitzvah comes from the root word tzavta, which means connection. We will connect with friends and our community by doing stewardship projects that are exciting and joyous. The children will work together on one project and present at their Thursday Field trip.

Karate Kid Camp
Self-defense, exercise, discipline, and learning to fall safely - all these things are taught in the Karate Kid Camp. Using techniques from both Jujitsu, the ancient Japanese art of self-defense, and Karate, the Okinawan martial art, the campers will be taught throws, take-downs, grappling, escapes from grabs, punches, kicks, blocks, forms, and more. The camp is taught by Sensei Joshua Seidorf, who has studied the martial arts for 24 years and has black belts in five different styles, including Jujitsu, Judo, weapons, and two styles of Karate.

Little Medical School: Discovering the Human Body! - Waitlist
At Little Medical School, we understand kids love to dress up and play doctor. That’s why we’ve created a fun and exciting program to help elementary school aged students explore the world of medicine. Through interactive learning kids will discover how the body and organs work, how to use medical instruments, administer first aid, and even tie knots like a real surgeon. Each child will receive a working stethoscope to take home after completion of the course.

Knights, Ninjas, and Jedi
Campers will learn about and uphold the chivalry code set by knights long ago. Through the art of swordplay, participants will practice moral codes such as honesty, humility, courage, and graciousness. We’ll explore the history behind each style of swordplay. Games and role playing will be a big part in learning different forms of swordplay such as fencing, lightsaber, broadsword, and more. Soft, foam noodles will be provided to ensure swordplay safety in a controlled environment.

Little Veterinarian School: All About Canines!
Adopt a pet and start your training as a veterinarian! Explore the principles of animal care to keep your dog healthy and strong. Suture a laceration, calculate hydration needs, and learn how to give medications all while keeping a journal of your findings along the way. All graduates of Little Veterinarian School will receive a stuffed dog, dog bowl, recipe for dog treats, and much more.
